Q: Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little about what you do?

A: I’m Richard Morrison, and I’ve been with Centreline for 11 years. As Head of FBO, my main responsibility is ensuring that our FBO (Fixed Base Operations) are fully supported to operate safely and efficiently. This involves overseeing staffing, maintaining high levels of training, keeping our GSE (Ground Support Equipment) in top condition, and ensuring we deliver the exceptional customer service our clients expect. My role also includes identifying new business opportunities, staying ahead in innovation, and building strong relationships with both industry partners and customers.

Q: How did you get into the aviation industry?

A: I started my aviation journey at Heathrow Airport when I was 17, working on the ground for an aircraft cleaning company. I had always dreamt of a career in aviation but wasn’t sure which path to take. Working at Heathrow exposed me to the many different roles in the industry, and I quickly realized that ground handling was where I wanted to focus my career. After a short break from aviation, I returned as a ground handler at Bristol Airport, where I spent seven years gaining invaluable experience. In 2013, I joined Centreline’s FBO team, where I’ve been ever since.

Q: What sets Centreline apart from others in the industry?

A: It’s Centreline’s diversity that really stands out. We operate FBOs, a fleet of business jets, medical flights with our own air ambulance service and medical team, plus in-house CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation) and engineering teams. On top of that, we support CSAT operations at RAF Northolt. This broad range of services, combined with our commitment to providing top-tier service, is what truly sets Centreline apart in the industry.

Q: How does your job collaborate with other companies in the group?

A: Ground handling is closely intertwined with nearly every aspect of aircraft operations. We handle our own fleet through our FBO network, assist our medical teams with patient transfers, and support the engineering team with the aircraft under their care. In my role, I work closely with the charter team to explore new opportunities and enhance customer support. We also collaborate with the engineering team to ensure seamless service for our shared customers. Additionally, I work regularly with our Guernsey-based company, ASG, visiting their teams to ensure service levels meet our high standards and customer expectations.

Q: What advice would you give to someone wanting to enter the aviation industry?

A: My top advice would be to explore which aspect of aviation excites you the most. The industry is incredibly diverse, with so many different paths to pursue. If you’re unsure which area suits you best, reach out to industry professionals and arrange visits to get a first hand look at different roles. At Centreline, we’re always happy to open our doors to those with a real passion for aviation who are looking to start their career.
